These high-build coatings are designed to resist expansion and contraction and the harsh ground disturbances that come as a result of installation. They are usually compatible with a number of specified systems and quite often used as an alternative.
These high solids epoxies are applied through specially designed plural component spray systems and are usually used on below grade pipelines, pipe bends, fittings, valve assemblies and various below grade equipment that cannot be properly coated in an automated plant. These coatings can be used as a coating for “slip bore” piping where extra abrasion-resistance is required for the application.
Most of these formulations are designed for piping systems that operate below grade up to 100ºC. High temperature formulations designed to operate up to 200ºC are also available.
